About Us.

FlexoExchange was created for the people closest to the flexo pressroom; printers, operators, prepress personnel, pressroom supervisors and managers.  We are all about flexo!

Our technical forum, articles, UglyFlexo YouTube channel, employment site FlexoJobs.com and online store, FlexoDepot.com, are all dedicated to and focused on serving the flexographic printing industry.

Established in 1997

Our Mission

In 1997, when I saw how a website worked, for the first time, my mind was blown. Hyperlinking among related documents, images displaying on pages, all at the click of a mouse? I was amazed. I instantly knew... “we have to create a web site for the flexo Industry. A place where we can all exchange knowledge about flexo.”

Sharon Burgos, my patient wife, took on the challenge of learning how to write HTML, from scratch. We launched FlexoExchange on the 'World Wide Web' on September 29, 1997, a few months after it’s conception. It was a major day for me. I could now gain access to, and share knowledge about, flexo with just a click of my mouse!
To help build and support a community of flexographers, dedicated to this craft, and willing to share with others.

A place where we can all EXCHANGE knowledge about FLEXO.

Our Story

In June of 1980, I began my career operating a 48”, 4-color stack flexo press in line with a blown film extruder and turret rewinder. The machines never stopped. For two weeks after starting, I dreamed every night about extruding a bubble, cutting film, setting impression and pushing buttons. I never imagined I’d learn how to run all this equipment and I marveled at my coworkers’ abilities to do so.

I got over that and started to enjoy the job as I got better. I was hungry for knowledge about my craft. When I finally found out that there were magazines dedicated to the industry, I read everything I could get my hands on. Even then, though, I had access to little information.

When I saw how a web site worked, for the first time, my mind was blown. Hyperlinking among related documents, images displaying on pages, all at the click of a mouse? I was amazed. I instantly knew “we have to create a web site for the flexo Industry. A place where we can all exchange knowledge about flexo.”

Sharon Burgos, my patient wife, took on the challenge of learning how to write HTML, from scratch. There were no web-site building tools that we knew of. No easy way of doing it. She wrote code into a Notepad document. I can’t tell you how many non-breaking spaces I saw her type out manually (rather than just copy/paste!). It was primitive, hard work.

Despite the challenges, including the many long hours it took her to learn to code and to write our web pages and me pestering her every day about whether the site was ready to launch, Sharon launched FlexoExchange on the World Wide Web on September 29, 1997, a few months after its conception. It was a major day for me! I could now gain access to, and share knowledge about, flexo.

Several web site versions and 20+ years later, FlexoExchange remains all about flexo. Our technical forum, articles, YouTube channel, and supplies store are all dedicated to and focused on the flexo industry. We’ve heard and read kind words from many people who in one form or another were grateful to find a place dedicated to folks who, like them, work in or have an interest in this industry. The words are gratifying, and it has been and remains a privilege and an honor to help provide this resource.

I continue to learn from others and love having a chance to share my knowledge on FlexoExchange. At almost any printing operation I visit, someone mentions using FlexoExchange.com to help with challenges or learn about the craft. Hearing from someone who has benefited from FlexoExchange is rewarding beyond words.

I welcome you here and I thank you for visiting.
