Narrow web printers, rejoice!

Now there really is a difference.  Introducing the UNIFLI 2G, the next generation of laser engraved anilox rolls.  From the world’s largest anilox manufacturer, Apex brings to anilox technology a bold revolution in cell geometry, laser engraving, ceramic strength and a unique lightweight body design featuring stainless steel journals and nickel-chrome alloy UltraShield layer for extra corrosion resistance.   Learn More

Genetic Transfer Technology (GTT)
This revolutionary, patented anilox surface technology will not only help you reduce your anilox inventory, it improves densities on higher line screen print jobs.  Learn More

Need fast delivery? How about 5 days or less?  Apex has the most extensive stocking program in the industry with over 40 different anilox models in inventory.

Precision, durability and fast delivery, together at last!

Stainless Steel Journals are standard on Apex rolls.

Apex Ultracell and Ultracell Plus cell geometries are wider and shallower than traditional CO2 laser-engraved rolls. This results in better ink release, meaning less plugging and the ability to use finer line screens.  Clean-up is much faster and more efficient, too.  Your press operators will notice the difference immediately.

ULTRACELL GEOMETRY - Compare the conventional CO2 engraved cells shown at right with our UltraCell and UltraCell Plus cells.

You’ll notice right away that Apex cells are wider and shallower, but they hold the same volume as the conventionally engraved cells.

What this means to you:

  • Finer line screens without ink upgrades

  • More thorough ink release

  • Precise ink-to-plate transfer; less blade wear

ULTRAMELT ENGRAVING PROCESS - In the laser engraving process, Apex employs its own high output, two-phase laser which actually melts the ceramic to a smooth, glistening surface.  This process makes our ceramic extremely dense and non-porous (less than 0.5% porosity after laser engraving).

Anilox porosity is the pressman’s enemy
UltraMelt technology minimizes porosity and maximizes:

  • resistance to scoring and surface damage

  • ability to resolve finer line screens

  • ink release

METALLURGY - ULTRASHIELD NICKEL CORROSION BARRIER
Located between the ceramic engraved layer and the metal base is our UltraShield corrosion barrier.

Only Apex employs a high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) process on every roll, transforming the nickel layer into an impermeable, non-porous corrosion barrier.  Flexographers know that harsh cleaners and water percolation can destroy anilox integrity through corrosion.

UltraShield Provides:apex-ultrashield-layer

  • Impermeable barrier

  • Impervious to harsh cleaners and water

  • Highest quality
    nickel-chrome alloy

RELEASALL CERAMIC COMPOSITION
Apex perfected a “non-wetting” process that repels moisture on the surface of the anilox roll.  This “hydrophobic” quality is not a spray coating or sealant.  It is not eroded by doctor blades or aggressive cleaners; it is integral to the structure of the ceramic which results in:

  • Lower porosity

  • Practically complete ink release with less plugging/clogging

  • Protection against contaminants and aggressive cleaners
