Cleaning & Coating a Nu Tech Performance Enhancing Cylinder (PEC)
Materials Needed: Odorless Mineral Spirits Alcohol or Acetate Behr Water-Based Polyurethane Clear Matte Finish No. 780 Lint Free Rag Scotch-Brite Pad
Cleaning Residual Adhesive: To remove the residual adhesive left on the surface of the PEC from the mounting tape, wet a rag with mineral spirits and wipe it over the surface of the cylinder. Let the solvent sit for a few minutes and wipe it off with a lint-free rag or a Scotch-Brite pad. The adhesive will loosen and come off, leaving an oily feel on the cylinder. To remove the remaining mineral spirits, which is the source of the oily feel, wipe down the cylinder with alcohol or acetate. Make sure that all solvent has flashed off the surface of the cylinder. Residual solvent will prevent tape from adhering to the cylinder. Note: Over time, the coating on your PEC will begin to wear off and will need to be reapplied. You will see a color change in the surface of the PEC that will indicate the coating is wearing off.	Coating with Behr Primer: Coating your cylinder with Behr Primer is an option which will allow for easier removal of the tape from the cylinder. It is an alternative procedure to use if you have been unable to find a 0.005” mounting tape that is easy to remove. Make sure the surface of the PEC is clean and dry. Saturate a clean rag with the Behr Primer and wipe the face of the PEC. Add primer to the rag as needed and make sure to get complete coverage. Wipe off any excess primer and allow two hours drying time before applying tape.
