An affordable solution for basic 4-Color Quality Control.
The X-Rite 508 Spectrodensitometer brings the newest color control technology to a device designed specifically for basic 4-color reproduction.
Spectral technology gives the 508 unmatched performance in monitoring basic quality control for process color print jobs. The unit goes anywhere to quickly measure common density and dot functions.
Ideal for:
- basic commercial applications
- publication packaging
- newspaper printing
- basic prepress applications
It measures GATF proofing bars, QuarkXPress® color bars, Ugra/Fogra color control elements and other quality control targets used during the prepress process.
Ideal for Newspapers X-Rite added specialized 4-color newsprint functions aboard the 508 to ensure color accuracy and consistency across press runs and over time. These include newsprint-specific density functions and gray balance. The 508 achieves precise color quality control with newsprint and inserts by simultaneously measuring the densities of cyan, magenta, and yellow in a special News mode. Simply measure a three-color gray bar, masthead, banner, weather map, or another color element. The 508 instantly informs you whether any of the colors need adjusting.
Should I upgrade to a 528 or a 530? X-Rite 528: Measures custom colors, like customer logos and spot colors. It includes a digital version of the PANTONE library of colors, built-in, which means the colors never drift or fade, unlike with the color charts and chips. It also allows you to compare and match colors between color sample or ink drawdown and the printed product. The 504, 508, and 518 cannot do this. This is the minimum device we recommend for a flexo pressroom.
X-Rite 530: Will do everything the 528 does, but it also allows you to connect to a computer and interface with color quality control software. This is what we use when consulting and what we recommend for anyone, in any pressroom, big or small. If you are not going to use the software, however, stick with the 528.
