Re: Cold Foil Problems

I have no expierence with metal anilox rolls. What BCM roll are you using? a 300 line to me says it has a deeper volume, we typically run our cold foil adhesive on a 500 lpi 3.4-3.6 bcm. Along with that if we start to get real spotty like your picture is showing we swap out rolls right away. Also if...

Re: ink adhesion

My company has been down this road as well. It is frustrating. With that being said we finally decided if we are tearing the material resulting in material fibers seen on the tape we are passing. I know this isnt what you are asking for but hope it helps in some way or another.

BCM volumes for Gloss coatings

Can anyone recommend a BCM volume for Gloss UV? We currently use a 360 line with BCMs 4.64-5.06 and I am wondering if i could go with a different line anilox or go to a lower BCM? Obviously we dont want to lose the protective integrity of the coating but I think management is looking at the cost of ...

Gallus ECS 340

If any pressmen run the Gallus ECS 340, I am looking for ideas on how to print on the back side of the material and then flip to print the front? I do have a turnbar that is mounted at the end of the press that we use for running inside winds. I just dont see a friendly web path on this press with o...

Re: Delays in material delivery

Hey BMS, Im in Omaha, Ne. We have had delays in getting material as well. It may not be as drastic as what you are experiencing. We have also dealt with our ink vendor running out of UV coatings. They have issues getting some of their componets in to make the coatings. Either way i chalk it up to th...

Re: to reduce 4cp or run full strength?

Im sure everyones press room is setup differently. Things were setup before i took over and if we run full strength inks our volumes will be even lower 1.1-1.3 for our 1000 line rolls. This project has the eyes of our anilox and ink vendors along with dr. blades as well. That is my intention Fuzz to...

Re: to reduce 4cp or run full strength?

Thanks again for these great replies. We will more than likely be going to full strength ink and getting in new anilox rolls with the appropriate bcm. And lets say if i need something a little more red we will drop the anilox to a higher volume anilox roll. We try to keep our anilox rolls consistent...

Re: to reduce 4cp or run full strength?

Thanks for that reply. We have ran a banded roll to find our bcms. I believe our cy and magenta will be a1000 cpi 1.3 and blk and Yellow a 1.5. I was hoping to have all 4cp hit within the same volume. Im not opposed to running full strength but what do you do when you need a little more red and drop...

Re: to reduce 4cp or run full strength?

Thanks for the replies. A final decision is probably 2 weeks out or so. Im hopeful i can convince him otherwise. I guess i never thought about the anilox issues you pointed out. I was thinking more along the lines if we needed a little more red or something and i was already running full strength in...

to reduce 4cp or run full strength?

Good afternoon all, We recently have changed ink vendors from Wikoff to INX. We have been cutting inks for sometime and now my VP of ops wants to run full strength ink and purchase new anilox rolls to hit densities. I am looking for some experienced advise on this. My anilox supplier wants us to run...

Re: Printing on cold foil

Yes we have tried that as well with the same results. I think at this point we are going to try and hit the graphics and remove most of the foil. I do not recall the tape test ever being done on foil. I can peel the tape of with great results but everyone else rips it off. I dont understand why that...

Printing on cold foil

We are laying down a fairly larger reverse of cold foil and are laying down two different hits of white along with 4cp and a small area of tactile and the rest covered by a matte varnish. We are being asked to perform a tape test on this label and of course everything comes off. I have never had a s...

Re: Ink adhesion on rotary screen ink

Hi Frank Thanks for the reply. As of Dec. last year we have switched ink suppliers. We were strictly INX but our company found a huge cost savings by switching to wikoff. This is about the time we started having issues. And Yes our ink supplier is aware of the issue. We thought it was just the wikof...
