Chamber with a third blade puzzle

My manager said we are going to source a chamber unit from Comexi with a third blade. It will be our first time. The main idea is to minimise the effects of bouncing. Which I can understand and comprehend. The third blade would assist doctoring. Although "the proof is always in the pudding"...

Re: Bearer Bars

Hi Gorilla If there's no issues regarding the pinholing then yeah, stick to the softer tape and right plate. I wonder what would happen if you put an even softer tape with the GTT... When the ground doesn't vibrate as much and the sound is more pleasant, then you're running it well. If they're happ...

Re: Bearer Bars

Hi Gorilla Glad to hear that you got some good results on that. Normally when we go with a softer tape on a large solid; there's quite a bit of pinholing. So to combat it we have to apply more plate pressure; which in turn increases the bounce. Is the softer tape not causing much pinholing for you?...

Re: Bearer Bars

Well, Well Just for an experiment, we trial pink mounting tape (our softest ) with the digicap plate. Oh my goodness, we got up to 200 m/min, and still hadn't hit the wall. We were happy with that and rode it till the end of job. It wasn't our biggest plate, but stil,l it was impressive. That pink t...

Re: Solvent based ink storage

PE can build and discharge static electricity (ask anyone who has been on an extrusion line and got a shock from a roll), and should not be used for solvent based ink storage. Add to this a relatively low melting point and the fact it will burn and you have three very good reasons not to use it. I ...

Re: Press Operator Test

If you are promoting a helper to become an operator. Yes, do basic tests. But the top of the list should be the one that: Sits the least on his arse Is always at work on time Doesn't pull sickies Does his job methodically without being asked. Is always ahead of the printer's needs Doesn't have a pro...

Re: Poor Color Blending at 100% primary color values

I may have said it wrongly. I didn't mean I don't want to rely on them, I meant that I can't because my work hierarchy is still too low to be asking these kinds of questions. I'm just supposed to help the operator's helpers, if you catch my drift. Of course I'd try asking to my immediate superior, ...

Re: Poor Color Blending at 100% primary color values

Is there any way to systematically go through adjusting all those factors you mentioned? I'm really trying to learn things on my own, as I can't rely on my seniors to teach me stuff. Again, thank you for the reply. Hi edpression I find your posts interesting. For one ,you have only been in your ind...

Re: Bearer Bars

Hi Gorilla When you mention chamber. I might not be able to give too much input about it, but I've seen a three-blade chamber before. It's a third blade attachment that clicks into place of the chamber. It would typically use a plastic (nylon) doctor blade. Since the blade is inside the chamber, it...

Re: Bearer Bars

Update: Yellow mounting tape with Digicap plate worked a treat We managed to run @ 165 m/min with minimal ghosting/bounce. It was our worst print for bouncing . One up, 400 mm repeat and over 900 mm wide. This has been the best performance yet. It will be good when we finally trial Channalbac to se...

Re: Opinion on hot glue on plate seems

Hi Gorilla We haven't tried warming a plate while still on the tape and cylinder. We de-mount and then warm the plate up. Once warmed it makes the plates a bit more "malleable" and you can bend it by hand. So it's easier to work with the plate when off the cylinder. Thanks Andy I intend t...

Re: Press Operator Test

At the interview, I'd give the prospective employee 2 different job samples with a scenario One showing the job you are running "now". The stations they are running in and the amount of stations in the whole press I would ask them what aniloxes and mounting tape we would be using for each ...

Re: Tips/Tricks - Flexographic Mastery.

Hi All In my shop, white is usually the first lay down. Guys like to set inkers /impression for the other colours with it on. I understand, it's easier to see with a white background The problem is the risk of picking white off onto the plate you are setting. Especially with screens. With no backgro...
