Alternate of films (imagesetters) CTF

Postby Rizwan » Sun Mar 24, 2013 8:59 am

We have an imagesetter of FUJIFILM Luxel F-6000, but as we know Fujifilm have totally stopped manufacturing any parts of it, and other CTFs are also going to obsolete. What is the best alternate or new solution suitable for Flexo plates making. An Esko CDI how it works and what are the advantages and or limitations. What is its work process, maximum size etc. Or is there any other best solution like a Plotter? Please help.

Thanks,
Rizwan

Either ESKO CDI Sparks or Screens Platerite FX870 - capable of producing flexo / letterpress / and laser ablative film

Probably a slight edge to the Screen unit, with its clamping mechanism and laser technology.

Depending on your output size, budget and quality expectation; if you have a digital imager, the best alternative is PCI Laser Point II ablative coating film; but I doubt whether you'll likely to go for the film if you can opt for digital plate imaging which the cost of the material is comparable to analogue version.

If you only look for a simple line work with relatively low resolution, they are a number of inkjet technology with few options on the software interface and film, ie matte/gloss type with either waterproof or not.

So far, we've not come across any limitation in digital imaging besides the slight higher capital investment, nevertheless, the choices of digital imagers is also getting more from Esko, Screen, Xeikon and new comer like Heights.

The benefits of being digital is mainly the ease of workflow with less handling issue on film, plate exposé(no more masking) and consistence in plate quality, just to name a few.

Thank You, Mr. Peted57 and justflexo,
I have sent an inquiry to PCI Coatings about the product.
