Opinions sought on Screen FX870II flexo platemaker

...and the software. We are looking to go digital, and so far it seems the best bet for us since we never got into using anything by Esko. How good does the Flexo Dot screening look? We are mostly trying to get good highlights and gradients that do not cut off too soon. Would anyone recommend any of the Cyrel digital plates? We are using Cyrel analog now. Thanks!

Hi ArtSteve

Please, visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYrxi-JWCak.
There is presentation of FlexoDot screening.

We use often S30 screening when dots have to fade-out to zero.

But most often we use normal round dot, and I can tell you that we can reach out very small dots.
Plates work fine on our Nilpeter flexomachines.

FAST plate that we nowadays use is DFR plate. As you know, it takes only 40 minutes to get print-ready plates.
We use all the time 4800 dpi resolution, even if we use 133 lpi screening. Dots on the plate are very fine shaped and the dotgain is not problem.
We use a small bumpup and linear "curve" with round dot screening. FlexoDot does not need bumpup.

We also started with analog Fast FD2 plates. We had then sometimes problems with barcodes and negative text.
Everything changed when we got FX870II, we can make all plates what we need. Quality is excellent.

Best regards
Juhar
