Matt finish for printed image

Postby askarakson » Thu Jul 02, 2015 2:50 am

Dear friends
Anybody can explain me how can we get more matt finish in flexo print.
Now we are using matt over print varnish and matt type ink.
What is the maximum % we can apply the matt powder in flexo printing inks?

Best regards

your question is valid, but a little vague. what type of ink? what matting additive? what anilox? suggest you test 'on the bench' before you check further - more Matting additive generally means worse resistance to scratch and scuff.

We are using NC based flexo ink
anilox for matt opv is 100 line 20.3 cc/sq.m
Our ink supplier openion to use high volume anilox to get more matt finish.

Please update your ideas to get more matt finish with low volume aniloxes

Titanium DiOxide or Syloid are two of the bigger users for Matte finish in OPV. in Most cases 15-16% of these additives is the maximum you'd want to use. Adding more can make the ink "fluffy" and hard to print. In addition, as mentioned before you may experience a decrease in scuff resistance.
