Ink Build up in Ink Pit

Postby Flexofixer » Thu Jun 22, 2017 12:33 pm

Has anyone run into an issue of having a huge buildup of ink in an ink pit that didn't drain for whatever reason. Does anyone make a product using some sort of enzymes that will break up a large hunk of ink sludge so that it will eventually wash down the drain. These are all water based inks that have just dried and been poured over and over on for years and now I have a problem with the pit draining. Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi Flexofixer,

Water-based ink resins are extremely difficult to resolubilize, once they've hardened. I can't exactly visualize your situation, but it looks to me like the remedy involves some sort of destruction. You're not likely to re-wet water-based resin in a pit.
