Controlling static at a Die cut station for U/G material

Postby Katherine » Fri Oct 13, 2017 10:49 am

Good Day everyone!

I am hoping someone here may have a helpful idea  for solving an on-going issue we are having every time we go to print a sheeted metallic Vodka label for one of our regional customers. There is static build up that keeps a large percentage of the die cut labels trapped in the waste or which causes these labels to travel back around the die station and be "trimmed" on one side or the other. What we end up with is a Finishing Inspector's nightmare and high spoilage rates.

The press is an older Nilpeter 3500 model, 10" Press. We have high humidity in our outside environment, but it is controlled in the plant somewhat through A/C.
Our Press Room staff indicate that we do see the issue become more severe when there are tropical depressions or storm systems around the same time we print these labels.

Thank you for any feedback, ideas or suggestions.

Thanks everyone. We use tinsel already, but that wasn't effective, obviously.
I've gotten some details from stopstatic.com and amstat.com and passed that along to our Print Production Manager and Maintenance Manager to look into.
