Paper Dust

Postby TexMaintMan » Sat Oct 28, 2017 7:18 pm

We are running a dual web, 2 across on a 28" AquaFlex press.. It is being slit then through the drop in sheeter die and into a batching unit. At the slitting station and through the sheeter we are accumulating a lot of paper dust. We have added 2 static eliminators, static tinsel, Ionizing blowers, and 4 air tubes. When the press speed is increased the dust increases. We run the same job on another press with very different results, clean stacks. The difference being the sheeter is a rotary sheeter with a fixed bottom blade and adjustable top blade to create the scissor type cut. They are intent on getting it to run on the AF.

Any suggestions?

Not knowing the actual set up. (can't visually see it, not familiar with that set up)

Did you say it had a web cleaner? If so what about a actual shop vac?

The web is clean until the sheeting tool. It seems as if the traditional sheeting tool , a crush cut basically.. is where the problem is. We have since installed a VITS style rotary sheeter and the problem has disappeared. Now the press speeds are increased more than 4 times faster.
