Checking New Tooling on Arrival

Postby Katherine » Fri Apr 06, 2018 4:16 pm

Good Afternoon Flexo people!

Does anyone have any methods for checking incoming tooling prior to putting it on press to ensure it is supplied as ordered and not damaged in transit?
We use both solid dies, magnetic - Narrow web.

Are there any on-line tooling inspection methods? I am not seeing anything in any of our reference manuals. Just wondering if there are any real world solutions.

Thanks!

Hi Katherine,
It is possible with some equipments of different "meters" to physically evaluate but the best solution is taking the test certificate(COC) from your tooling supplier which complies the tolerance limits and you can go thru that wuith your relevant testing equipments or else physical and visual inspection is the final go..

Do they get your paper you need it for? They should give you a sample of what the tool cuts like on your ps stock

Thanks for the replies- some of our tooling suppliers do provide a test sheet so we are setting up a system using that documentation; otherwise we are still limited to mounting the tooling on press for the run.
