Using infra red dryers to dry water based ink

Hi guys whats the benifits of drying water based ink with a infa red dryer
as too air dryer does anybody do this

I've never heard this topic discussed. Most interesting.

One benefit that occurs to me, though, is that IR heaters are one per station and used only when needed, whereas, in many cases, with blown-air dryers, there's one big heater for the entire system, whether you need all that energy or not.

I won't guess at the energy benefits, one way or the other, but one system is likely to be more economical than the other. Hopefully someone else can speak to that.

Infrared is akin to a heat source and becoming more popular especially on the digital presses running waterbased inkjet. You will still want air flow in order for complete drying. A good dryer system require both heat and air flow for proper drying of the ink.
