Cleaning dried UV varnish off of anilox roller?

Post by ryanflexo »

Hello,

I have an anilox roller that has dried UV varnish on and it is creating blotches in our print. We have tried cleaning the anilox roller by scrubbing it multiple times using Ceramiclean Anilox Cleaner and running it through an ultrasonic cleaner. This method does not seem to help remove the dried varnish. Does anyone know how we can remove dried UV from this anilox?

That's tough stuff.

Try auto paint remover. I used to get it from NAPA.

Another thing that can be surprisingly effective is a pressure washer.

Do any of this at your own risk.

Thank you for the help! I'll give the paint remover and acetate a shot.

.
I have no experience with ultrasonic cleaners,uv ink or paint remover
I'll assume ethyl acetate will not work after all your previous efforts.

If all else fails, send anilox away to get laser cleaned
In my experience, a laser cleaner has never failed after a deep clean, unless the anilox is damaged.
If anilox comes back and works well, we can presume a new cleaning schedule/system needs to be adopted.

Cheers
